I am excited to announce my candidacy for Sparks City Council, Ward 3.

I am running because decisions that are made today will impact the future of Sparks for generations to come. I am not a politician; I am a concerned long-time resident. I am running because I have a vested interest in positively shaping our great city. Sparks needs strong leaders now more than ever. If elected, you will a have a fiscally responsible, effective decision-making voice on the Sparks City Council. I love our city and I am deeply committed to shaping the future of Sparks. I understand the concerns and issues impacting the daily lives of our neighbors, our city, and our region.

  

Our Community:

I believe in contributing to our community. I have served as a volunteer on the City of Sparks, Parks and Recreation Commission for close to 10 years. Most of which were as the elected Chair. I also served as the Mayor's appointment to the Sparks Citizen Advisory Committee.  I've served as a previous Board member for the Sparks Heritage Museum, and Northen Nevada Literacy Council. I represented workers' rights as President-elect for the local chapter of the National Eligibility Workers Association, and as an elected Board Member for the Washoe County Employees Association. I have volunteered as a Make-A-Wish Grantor, Sunday School Teacher, Red Cross Volunteer, and more.

Public safety is always the number one concern of residents, and it will continue to be a top priority for me. I will work to expand funding and resources to all those who selflessly protect and defend our community. As a daughter of a proud Marine, I will continue to be an advocate of our current and retired military, ensuring that they have the resources they need whether it is housing, health care, support groups, and other priority services.  I would like to expand available senior programs and services that are offered.

With over 100,000 people who live in our city, Sparks needs more attainable housing options for all.  I will advocate for sustainable growth.  The continued growth in our area will not support the limited funds that are available, nor the current infrastructure.  Housing development impacts funding enhancements to projects such as roads, and increased funding for police and fire.  Expanding services and programs in our area should not entirely fall on the shoulders of the local taxpayer. As a former Grant and Development Officer, I will help to secure and promote grants that may be available to help our failing infrastructure and ever-growing population.

As a former Community Outreach Coordinator, I understand the importance of an engaged and informed community. I hosted countless governmental neighborhood meetings pertaining to proposed development projects, graffiti abatement, water and sewer rate increases, proposed tax increases, public safety measures, and other issues impacting residents.

• Fostering Economic Growth: Promoting and enhancing opportunities for small businesses to thrive and attracting new industries.  

• Building Stronger Neighborhoods: Investing in a sustainable infrastructure, advancing affordable housing initiatives and community programs that enhance the quality of life for all residents.​

• Prioritizing Fiscal Responsibility:  I will provide clear and fiscally responsible and sustainable guidance in the development of the annual city's budget.  Ensuring open and transparent government. 

• Establishing and Enhancing Strong Partnerships:  I will effectively collaborate with local organizations, business leaders, and other governmental entities to address our shared challenges and strengthen opportunities for growth and progress.

Residents need effective, transparent communication to know their voice is heard. To do this, I need your support, your ideas, and your voice to make our vision a reality.
